Cornish's CASE-IH gets Hi-Powered Upgrade
Cornish's - the biggest Case-IH dealership in Australia - today move toward the future with Hi-Powered Networking's Powertel-based MPLS VPN networks, Cisco connectivity, and IBM x-Series server solutions.
After recently acquiring Farm Implement & Tractor Machinery Services (FITMS), bringing a total of eight branches under the Cornish's name, management knew that it was a good time to consolidate and upgrade network resources. The two step rollout involved a move of FITMS Dealer Management Server to the head office at Tamworth, from the former FITMS head office at Orange. Once in place, Hi-Powered Networking engineers co-ordinated with Kerridge to provide Network Engineering expertise to assist in a ready changeover from their existing Dealer Management System, provided by Computer Fiscal Services.
As a second stage of the rollout, and over the course of several days, branches were seamlessly cut over to the new network, with minimum downtime. Routers were ugpraded with the latest Cisco 800 series security router, printer services upgraded or expanded, and a company wide rollout of Computer Associate's e-Trust Antivirus was underway - providing a uniform anti-virus solution across the board.
Simultaneously, Hi-Powered Networking Engineers put in place a co-located IBM x-Series rack optomised server system utilising Redhat Enterprise Server, to host mail, web-proxy, DNS, and antivirus updates. This system connects directly to the Powertel MPLS framework and provides high speed 'hub' access to all of Cornish's branch 'spokes'.
