Emmetts Motors - a Voice of the Future
Hi-Powered Networking and Fastwire today won a bid to deploy a Cisco IP Telephony solution for two major branches of the Emmetts Motors John Deere dealership network.
Competing against bids from traditional telephony providers, Hi-Powered Networking leveraged some fantastic deals for Emmetts to not only upgrade their voice network, but also their data network at the same time. Both Swan Hill and the Head Office at Rupanyup recieved upgrades to full gigabit networking across the board, and also included Power over Ethernet on all ports, allowing selected devices such as Cisco IP phones to be powered down the same cable they recieve network signalling with.
As an added bonus, no additional cabling was required. Because each Cisco IP telephone has its own data switchport, the user's PC simply connects into this switchport and both phone and PC gain data access at gigabit LAN speeds.
The new system adds never-before used features including a graphical interface for company phone number lookup, seamless web based adds / moves / changes of phones, extensions and hunt groups, and most importantly to a regional customer like Emmetts, toll bypass capability for calls between Swan Hill and Rupanyup. This means that inter-branch calls are made at no additional cost - the phone call simply routes down their existing WAN infrastructure, plus calls to customers that would normally be STD, can be routed to the branch closest to the customer - making it either a local call, or a lower cost STD call due to reduced calling distance. With these costs saved, its possible to upgrade the WAN for additional bandwidth, which means additional benefits for data applications deployed by Emmetts.
